Made for
"I was made for another world."
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” — C.S. Lewis
One glance skimmed me a foreigner
downcasting lightyears of space between us
awakening an aching for astral archipelagos
where I would finally feel human
Perhaps, I was made an alien
My eyes magnetized to the stars above
If I could leave this dome for them, would I?
If Perseus stretched out his hand for the taking…
Would I?
Imagine
Drifting and rolling in starlit tides and arpeggios
with Ursa Major and Minor strumming
ceaseless celestial hymnal chords
But if I envisage this dream for too long
cries from the blood-soaked earth awaken me to
A reality forged by inhumanity
of self-proclaimed superior specimens
All bullets piercing human flesh is friendly fire
The rest catch strays and orphans of
othered parents abducted from the streets
Worldly beings commit otherworldly things
Bearing witness to their weighty atrocities
yet somehow I still do believe
Help me to overcome my unbelief
Gamble on me
Mortal destiny rolls with the roulette of heavenly hosts
Their lucky ones blessed with the curse to
imagine and insist there must be more than this
while rowing through waves of faces
possessed by cannibalistic hate
Bestowed with a broken heart that keeps on beating
through every infernal trial and tribulation
Is that not human?
Or burn me to the seventh degree
and see that I will return to dust
Suspended in terrestrial burial
Aching for psalms of daydream memories
sung by a sweeping gale for ashes to arise and
join the island universe via first final breath
Perhaps, I was made for here and there

Oh my goodness, this is beautifully written, June. I long to be part of the stars. Imagine the absolute peace.
